Summer Camp 2011

On Deck NY is proud to offer the most engaging baseball day camp in New York City. Available to campers 4-10 years old, we provide a week-long baseball experience Monday through Friday for 5 and a half hours a day (4 hours/day for 4-7 year olds).

Our summer camp is designed to immerse your child in baseball. We want them to develop a real love for the game, and make great friends while they're at it!

Enthusiastic, dedicated, and talented coaches will be assigned to each age group, allowing them to give personalized attention to each and every player. Groups will be determined by age and skill level, ensuring that players will be in the best environment for them to excel. Every player will be evaluated on the first day of camp so that our coaches can set specific goals for that child to accomplish during their time with us this summer.

Half-Day Campers (4-7 yrs.)

Our youngest campers, ages 4-7, will remain closer to home with a half-day session in the morning from (9 AM - 1 PM). They will participate in age-appropriate baseball activities that emphasize the basic fundamentals of hitting, fielding, pitching, and base running. Campers will be playing baseball in Central Park everyday! ($400/week)

Full-Day Campers (7-10 yrs.)

Each morning our older campers will be taken to fields in Central Park for a great day of baseball. They will enjoy a 5-day schedule (9:30 AM - 3 PM) of intensive skill-building drills including daily game competitions. ($600/week)

We hope you will join us this summer for what we feel will be your child's most memorable baseball experience ever!

Camp Director: Alex Rivera

Coach Alex Rivera enjoyed a successful playing career before devoting his energy to coaching. He played 4 years of varsity baseball with LaSalle Academy High School before being recruited to play Division 1 baseball at Delaware State University. At Delaware State, Alex received a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management while maintaining a superior level of play on the field that allowed him to be a starter for 4 years.

Alex's success on the field eventually led him to coaching, and many young athletes have benefitted from his instruction and experience over the past few years. Alex takes pride in sharing his raw enthusiasm for the game with every individual player he has a chance to coach.

Frequently Asked Questions

What clothing should my child wear?
Campers should wear any clothes they would usually wear for athletic activity, though they should avoid wearing shorts as they'll be sliding.
What baseball equipment should my child bring?
Every camper must bring their own baseball glove. They should also bring their own bats if possible, though On Deck NY will provide extra bats as well as helmets.
Does my child have to bring lunch?
Full-day campers must bring lunch. And although On Deck NY will provide beverages to keep players cool, it's a good idea for campers (both half-day and full-day) to bring a drink as well.
If my child is enrolled in the full-day camp, will they just be practicing all day, or will they get to play games as well?
At the end of each day, we'll have skill-based competitions followed by a game. Players will be assigned to "intramural" teams for the week and get to play in a week-ending playoff game.
What happens in the case of inclement weather?
If it rains, we'll have an activity-packed day indoors for the kids.
